(Sold) Item #13-Extremely Rare Western Theme Toy Chest from 1950s (Sold)

Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Hopalong Cassidy, Dale Evans, Tonto, Trigger, Bullet, The Lone Ranger – Return with us now to the Saturday mornings in front of a black and white TV (and theme music we would learn later was the William Tell Overture, written for an opera?). Although these Western Heroes are all gone now, how could any of us old enough to remember ever forget! And who would’ve thought your set of six-shooters with their holsters would fetch hundreds, sometimes even thousands of dollars now. When Mom gave them away years ago while you were in the military, (or was it later when you were in college?) she never realized how much sentimental value they held. Here’s a chance to replace one item that has become very rare and collectable. This is the only toy chest of this type we’ve been able to find in the last five or so years of diligent searching. It’s made of pine with beautiful pine knots. The chest is original except for the addition of a safety lid support that holds the lid in any position you leave it. (So that little fingers are not pinched, if you want to pass it on to a younger generation.). The inside features an original lid support but it only holds the lid in one position; we’ve left it for posterity. Also inside is a small rack to hold books or toys. We’ve cleaned and resealed the wood and left just enough bruises on it to show its age. We also left the cute drawing of an airplane on the inside floor. The exterior artwork needed some slight touch up but is mint now. The toy chest came to us with casters on the bottom; we don’t think these are original but could be handy so we will include them. UPDATE: A loyal customer from 2001 just informed us that her toy chest identical to this one has the same type of casters, so they are original after all. We cleaned and polished all the original metal buttons. The rope handles are original and still very strong. Our last step was to coat the entire inside and outside surfaces with an invisible protective clear-coat. This is a fantastic piece of memorabilia and it won’t be long before someone snatches it up, so if you like it as well as everyone here then give us a call at 336-765-3998 or Email us at: contactus@oldtrunks.com before it gets snatched up.
